The Pahrump Valley High School Trojans girls softball team gave fans an exciting game at home on Friday, April 4, as they faced off against the Boulder City Eagles. After a strong start and a competitive performance throughout, the Trojans ultimately fell short in a 13-10 loss, but showed grit and determination from the first pitch to the last out.

The Trojans came out swinging in the first inning after the Eagles managed to score three runs off a mix of walks, a triple, and stolen bases. Evalenne Armendariz opened on the mound with a solid effort, including a quick out on the first batter. When it was Pahrump’s turn at the plate, the Trojans quickly responded. Autumn Colon and Danika Cox-Hosino both walked to start the rally, and Evalenne delivered a base hit that brought runners home. Madison Rodriguez and Mariah Gray followed with clutch hits, including a triple by Mariah, and by the end of the inning, the Trojans had jumped to a 5-3 lead.

In the second inning, the Trojans kept their momentum. After a solid defensive half, they tacked on two more runs. Sunday Colon hit a triple to bring in Danika, and later scored herself, giving Pahrump a 7-4 edge. The third inning went by quietly with neither team scoring, and in the fourth, Autumn Colon’s double and aggressive base running allowed the Trojans to add one more, stretching the lead to 8-4.

But the Eagles weren’t done yet. In the top of the fifth, they found their rhythm at the plate, stringing together hits and capitalizing on a few fielding errors to tie the game at 8-8. The Trojans didn’t back down. In the bottom of the inning, Madison Rodriguez hit a double and was brought home by Mariah Gray, giving Pahrump a narrow 9-8 lead.

Boulder City edged ahead again in the sixth inning, scoring three more runs. Despite a quick out to start the bottom half, the Trojans showed heart. Danika Cox-Hosino smacked a double, and Sunday Colon matched it with another to bring her in. The inning ended with two Trojans left on base, trailing 11-10.

In the final inning, the Eagles added two more insurance runs and managed to hold the Trojans scoreless in the bottom of the seventh, sealing their 13-10 win.

Although the game didn’t end in their favor, the Trojans played with intensity and showed resilience throughout all seven innings. With several standout performances and consistent energy on the field, the team continues to grow and improve. The Trojans are looking ahead, ready to make adjustments and come back stronger in their next matchup.
