The Pahrump Valley High School Boys’ Tennis team is set to make history once again as they head to the 3A State Tournament at Tahoe Donner Tennis Club in Truckee, California, this Thursday and Friday, October 24 and 25. The Trojans will open the tournament with a challenging first-round matchup against South Tahoe, the top team in the northern region.

This marks a monumental moment for PVHS tennis, as the team aims to continue their impressive playoff run that saw them clinch a spot in the state competition for the first time in school history. Head Coach Michael DelaRosa praised the team’s resilience, emphasizing their ability to overcome challenges throughout the season to secure their place at state.

    Individual Success in Doubles

In addition to the team competition, PVHS doubles duo Lucas Johnson and Jace Eichner will also participate in the individual rounds on Friday. The pair, who finished fourth in the southern region, will face a formidable task, going up against Brodie Wallisch and Ralston Pierce, the top-seeded doubles team from South Tahoe. The match is scheduled for Friday, October 25, at 2:30 PM.

Johnson and Eichner put up a strong fight in their previous match against Moapa Valley in the southern playoffs, narrowly falling 5-7, 6-3, 1-6. Despite the setback, the duo remains optimistic and determined to give their all against the northern region’s top-ranked pair.

Community Sends Off Trojans in Style

The Pahrump community rallied behind the team on Wednesday morning, giving the Trojans a spirited send-off. Fire and police departments escorted the team from the high school to the edge of town, showcasing the pride and support of their hometown. This grand gesture underlines the significance of the team’s accomplishment and the excitement surrounding their state tournament debut.

The PVHS Boys’ Tennis team heads to Tahoe with the hopes of adding another chapter to their remarkable season. With momentum on their side and the community cheering them on from afar, the Trojans are prepared to leave everything on the court.

The road to victory may be challenging, but the team is ready to compete with heart and grit, knowing they have already made history—and their town proud—no matter the outcome.

Thank you for featuring the boys tennis team at PVHS!!
I’m the grandmother of one of the members and living in Las Vegas is hard to participate as much as I would like to in his activities. The send off video brought tears to my eyes…what a wonderful show of support to them.
