    Pahrump Valley High School Cross Country Teams Headed to State After Strong Regional Performances

    Pahrump Valley High School’s cross country teams demonstrated exceptional skill and determination at the Regional tournament on Friday, October 25, at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City. The Trojans competed against some of the region’s strongest teams, with the girls finishing second and the boys capturing third, securing both teams a spot at the upcoming State competition, scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at the same venue.

    Girls’ Team Performance

    The PVHS girls team showcased a remarkable effort, with Aurora Whitney leading the Trojans, crossing the line in fourth place overall with a time of 23:40.4. Savannah Thompson (25:21.6), Sasha Strain (25:48.5), Alexis Clouser (25:49.7), and Keelee Gieni (26:19.5) followed closely, finishing within the top 15. Sophie Romero and Alejandra Abarca-Franco rounded out the team, securing strong finishes in 18th and 21st places, respectively. With a combined team effort, the PVHS girls claimed second place behind Somerset Academy Losee, edging out Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley.

    Boys’ Team Performance

    The boys also had a noteworthy showing, finishing third overall and earning their ticket to State. Antonio Veloz led the Trojans with an 11th-place finish, clocking in at 19:31.1. Joaquin Flores (20:16.3), Joshua Gent (20:22.3), Joshua Flores (20:39.4), and Timothy Stutzman (21:04.5) all performed well, with strong support from teammates Logan Tilley (21:08.7) and Daniel Thompson (21:38.9). The team’s consistent finishes placed them just behind Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley, with Coral Academy of Science (Sandy Ridge) finishing in fourth.

    Senior Night Recognition

    The cross country seniors were honored during the halftime of Pahrump Valley’s home football game on Thursday, October 24, in celebration of Senior Night. This acknowledgment highlighted their dedication and contributions to the team over the years, setting an inspiring example for their younger teammates.

    With the State competition now on the horizon, both teams are focused and motivated, aiming to deliver a strong performance and cap off an impressive season. The Trojans will return to Boulder City on November 2, ready to represent Pahrump Valley High School with pride on the state’s biggest stage.
